Japanese anti-monopoly regulator FTC (Fair Trade Commission) has given its clearance to a partnership between Google Inc. and Yahoo Japan Corp. after analyzing the apprehensions expressed by rivals. Japan's biggest Internet portal, Yahoo Japan, had announced in July that it was planning to merge with search engine competitor Google. However, this news invited scathing comments from web retailer Rakuten and Microsoft, who argued that this merger was a calculated move to deter competition.
